Here are some of the many examples of work that people have paid thousands of dollars for, only to have it re-done properly. Homeowners ChecklistWhy do I have water in my crawlspace?
Ben McCrea - Thursday, May 07, 2009
Water in your crawlspace can be caused by many sources. Over the last ten years there have been four things that have been consistently blamed for the water intrusion.
These are:

#1 The grade of the lot slopes toward the house.
#2 The downspouts drain too close to the house.
#3 The sprinklers are too close to the house.
#4 You are over watering
While all of these are factors, fixing all of these contributors may not help eliminate the standing water. Without understanding the underlying issue the solution will not fix the problem. The #1 factor with standing water in the crawlspace is heavy clay soil.
While the four suspects above may be adding to the standing water, unless there is a heavy clay layer present all of these factors combined may not lead to standing water in your crawlspace
